Brief Summary

 

Responsible for coordinating and assigning overall duties, policies and procedures within the maintenance department and assist production to ensure that all processes are in compliance within the specifications and standards.  

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Ensure that all activities are in compliance with our quality system requirements.

Serves as frontline leader for maintenance personnel.

Assists production to monitor machine productivity, downtime and reduce waste to standards. 

Assigns work tasks to other mechanics, assists maintenance supervisor with scheduling and monitoring workloads.

Installs, operates, maintains, checks, trouble-shoots and repairs all types of A/C and D/C electrical equipment including solid state and electronic equipment.

Installs operates, maintains and checks all types of mechanical equipment as directed including Power tools such as drill presses, cut off saws, lathes, mills, and portable table tools. Electrical test equipment, such as a voltmeter, ohmmeter, megohmmeter, amp meter, transistor, diode and S/C tester.

Actively participates in the HACCP team, responsible, but not limited to internal auditing, training, implementation and corrective actions.

Monitors and ensures compliance with the food safety program requirements.

Ensure that Work Order Database is maintained.

Uses machines such as lathes and mills when necessary due to breakdown or as directed by supervision.

Read and make proper installations of semi-complex electrical circuits from wiring diagrams as instructed.

Perform PM and repair work in accordance with A.I.B. and G.M.P. principals.

Diagnoses and employs proper procedure of troubleshooting to determine when parts need replacement and when repairs are necessary.

Dismantles, repairs and re-assembles gearboxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, furnaces, drives and all applied mechanical equipment when directed or when directly related to electrical troubleshooting.

Dismantles repairs, and re-assembles electrical motors relay. Timers and all applied electrical equipment.

Possess working knowledge of hydraulic systems, air systems and be able to read semi-complex diagrams and troubleshoot working systems.

Installs and repairs electrical conduit, cables, piping, tubing including all necessary connections, controls, and grounds as directed.

Operates mobile lift truck and hoisting equipment in the performance of maintenance work.  Must have forklift operators license.

Helps maintain spare parts inventory for the plant as directed by checking out parts from store areas, using parts ordering procedure, and re-stocking inventory.

Trains mechanics in new skills to develop team knowledge and bench strength.

Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, adjustments and repairs as indicated on the formal computer program. Completes work orders and assigned work as directed by supervisor.

Troubleshoots and repairs food processing and industrial machinery and facility equipment

Maintains inventory of industrial maintenance tools per department tool list (necessary personal tools of the trade)

Education

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Technical Certificate/Diploma

 

 

 

Skills

 

Desire to Learn

Forklift certified preferred

Regulatory inspectors

Warehouse/logistics experience
