The Oklahoma City franchise for Coca-Cola was first incorporated in 1903 as the Oklahoma Coca-Cola Bottling Company. In 1922 the Browne Family bought the franchise and began a tradition that has been an important part of Oklahoma for the last 79 years.

In 1980, the name of the company was changed to Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company. The current service area includes Central and Northeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas . Nearly half the soft drinks consumed by more than 2.5 million people in the Great Plains service area are sold, produced, distributed and merchandised by Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company. That is 3.5 million individual servings a day, more than twice as much in a single day than was produced in the entire year of 1922.

Since 1976, the company's headquarters have been housed in a 160,000 square foot plant located at 600 North May Ave. In 1975, the company established an expanded manufacturing division located at 227 N. Quapah, which added approximately 400,000 square feet to the company's operations.

Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company also operates a full-line vending machine service called Snappy Snack Vending, which includes complete service and the most modern equipment for serving soft drinks in non-returnable bottles, cans, or cups, soups, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, hot chocolate and candy.
