Nanny Jobs

Nanny babysitting jobs are responsible for children who have not yet entered any type of formal schooling yet. They also take care of children who may be older before and after school when the parents are unable to watch their kids. Performing a routine of basic care and teaching duties they stimulate children intellectually and also give instruction.

The minimum requirements for a child care position vary by State but most jobs require at least a high school diploma. The requirements can range from a high school education, a National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or courses from a community college. Nanny jobs that oversee several kids will require licensing. Child care workers may also need to be trained in first aid and CPR and other safety and health topics. Some employers may choose to only hire child care workers that have earned their CDA credential. Opportunities for advancement are limited but for those workers that show responsibility and have a significant amount of experience, administrative or supervisory positions are the next step. These jobs may also require a bachelor's or at least a master's degree.

Child care workers held about 1.4 million jobs in 2006 and most worked part time and were self employed. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that an 18 percent increase in employment will occur from 2006 to 2016. This rate will be faster than the national average of employment for all occupations. Job prospects for nanny babysitting jobs will be good for qualified persons that are interested in nanny jobs.
