Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Jobs

CNA jobs provide assistance to a variety of patients that may be mentally ill, injured or disabled that reside in nursing care facilities, hospitals, or mental health facilities. Certified nursing assistant jobs complete the routine tasks of providing care under the supervision of the nursing and medical staff. Cleaning up rooms, helping patients eat and get dressed, and bathe, are all common responsibilities for CNA nursing jobs.

The minimum training and educational required for these positions are typically a high school diploma or equivalent, although some home health aides are not required to have a high school diploma. The specific qualifications can vary by the occupations, the State laws in place, and the work setting. Training for these types of careers is offered in high schools, vocational centers, some nursing homes, and in some community colleges. The Federal government has restrictions for health aides and requires them to pass a test on skill competency. A CNA job in a nursing care facility requires you to complete a minimum of 75 hours of state training and successfully complete an evaluation to officially become a CNA assistant.

According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, CNA jobs are expected to grow faster than the national average for all occupations during 2006 to 2016. This will be mainly due to the increasing elderly population and rising admissions amongst nursing care facilities.
