Resort Jobs

Resorts differ from hotels in that they often are the destination, rather than a place to sleep while the traveler is in town for business or vacation. Resort employment can run the gamut from concierge jobs to day spa jobs, and are often instrumental in making each guest’s stay a good one. Resorts can vary from amusement park, golf themed, casino and spa, among other luxuries. They are often geared specifically to accommodate families, business travelers, romantic couples and more.

Resort jobs are expected to continue to grow faster than the average industry. This is in part due to the growing trend of specialty hotels to accommodate weddings, weekend getaways, business functions, etc. Depending on the services provided, resorts jobs can include general managers, catering directors and event planners. Many resorts operate a spa within the development that can hold a fitness center as well. This may be part of the same company as the hotel, or can be an integrated outside business.

Spa employment is generally handled differently than the other resort work. This is due to the specific nature of the positions. Oftentimes, spa jobs can include fitness instructors like yoga teachers and personal trainers, as well as health and beauty experts, including hairstylists, nail technicians, skin care technicians, and masseuses. A concierge job at a resort is an important role; since it is a destination getaway, the guests will expect help with planning excursions and transportation.
