Concierge Jobs

Concierge jobs are positions that meet the needs of guests in resorts, hotels and other facilities. Their activities can range from giving directions to booking tickets to a play. Having excellent interpersonal communication skills, concierge workers will often speak directly to patrons on the phone and in person. Being attentive and responding cordially are very important aspects of concierge jobs. Giving recommendations on different attractions and travel destinations along with brochures and pamphlets, a concierge worker should be well versed with information about the surrounding area.

There are no specific educational qualifications that are required for a concierge job but having experience in the hospitality or tourism industry would be favorable. Some training will be provided on the job. By managing schedules and booking reservations an individual with a concierge job should have good organizational skills. A concierge may also need to manage activities for a facility, which includes management duties. Employers will tend hire prospective job seekers with the aforementioned skill sets and solid resumes. Employment will tend to be affected by the business cycle as many jobs will be the result of increased travelers as the economy gains strength. Specific geographical areas that tend to see more travelers around the year will be the best areas to seek concierge employment.  

Additional concierge employment opportunities will come from the need to replace workers that make efforts to transition to other occupations or those that opt to exit the work force entirely.
