Generally, the cooks work with line cooks and food preparation workers to slice and chop vegetables, marinate and season meats, and pre-measure ingredients so that everything is ready to prepare a fresh meal fast. Cooks also need to ensure all the equipment is available and in proper working order, and that the stovetops and ovens are on and monitored. They work with the kitchen staff to ensure cleanliness and that everything is up to par in accordance to the health department standards.
