CNC Technicians Jobs

CNC technician jobs manufacture a variety of precision parts that are used in automobiles, aviation, and machine parts. CNC machines read code included in a computer-controlled module that performs the forming and shaping. CNC machines shape and form lathes, multi-axis spindles, milling machines, and laser cutting machines. Prospective job seekers for CNC technician jobs should expect 40 hour work weeks with evening and weekend shifts possible.

The minimum educational and training requirements for a CNC technician job is at least several weeks of on the job experience to gain an adequate amount of familiarity with machine operation. Formal educational can be gained from community colleges or technical schools. Coursework will include math, programming, physics, blueprint reading, CAD software, shop practices, and safety. Employers tend to hire workers that have prior technical knowledge and understanding. In 2006, there were 158,000 jobs with the majority of workers employed within the manufacturing industry.
