Basic FunctionThe CORE Head Lifeguard serves as support staff to the Aquatics Center Manager and Aquatics Coordinator enforcing pool safety rules and regulations. Employee assists with the maintenance of the pool filtration system and testing of water samples. This position shall interpret aquatic center rules and policies to the general public, may occasionally lead or teach aquatic classes and shall deal tactfully with controversial public relations problems and deal with conflict and handle complaints. This is a year round full time with benefits position. Essential Job Functions *Patrols the pools to ensure safe and proper use of aquatic center pools, slides, interactive play features and facilities. *Required to lead regular in-service 4 hour monthly training to meet State requirements. *May be required to complete accident and incident reports as needed. *Required to perform regular pool water chemistry testing and recording results. *Assist in cleaning pool, filters, water features, pool decks and routine maintenance procedures. *May work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and nights. *Provides CPR and First Aid as required. *Assists with physically challenged patrons as needed. *Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering telephone calls, customer questions and assisting customers as needed. *May conduct aquatic classes and/or help set up for classes and events. *Lead regular in-service trainings as well as instruct lifeguard certification classes. *Assist with routine maintenance of Aquatic facilities equipment. *Assist with daily staffing *Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Experience High School Diploma required. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications by an approved training organization are required. Two years aquatics related experience required. Employee must be at least 17 years of age. CPO desired. Must be able to complete the following prerequisite requirements in order to obtain an Ellis & Associates lifeguard license: 200 yard swim, retrieve a 10 lb brick from the bottom of the 12 ft. pool (feet first), and tread water for 2 minutes with no hands. A current Ellis & Associates lifeguard instructor license is required or the ability to acquire within two months of hire.
