SUMMARY

The primary objective of this position is to ensure finished products are prepared and transported to the proper storage areas and maintain accurate records in an efficient manner. Monitor and maintain palletizer operations.

Production Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate palletizer and conveying equipment
  • Transport and record all first grade finished product quantities
  • Operate lift truck in a safe and productive manner in accordance with all safety procedures
  • Replace LP tanks as needed following all safety procedures
  • Take weights on finished pallets and maintain quality records in accordance to specifications
  • Ensure that first grade product is properly packaged before storage – monitor appearance
  • Put inventory control stickers on product as required
  • Supply palletizers with pallets as required
  • Keep palletizer operational when minor malfunctions occur
  • Clear bundle jams on palletizer and conveying equipment
  • Observe that proper product color, UPC label, date code and quality of finished product meets customer expectations
  • Assist with stacking and disposition of second grade material
  • Ensure pallets of finished material are double stacked to ensure safe transportation and no material damage
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area
  • Accurately perform quality testing on finished products and verify that all paperwork is complete and turned in at the end of each shift
  • Assist in lace up for start-ups and after breaks, perform other misc. duties required by shift supervisor
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor
  • Participate in safety and good housekeeping programs established in the plant
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Notify your supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss accident or on-the-job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem
  • Operate equipment only when you are trained in its use or are working with or under the direction of a qualified employee, and you are authorized to do so by your supervisor
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

.SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The employee should hold the following abilities:

  • Knowledge of all finished product
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Knowledge of storage areas and overall warehouse
  • Must be able to record data accurately and legibly
  • Basic mathematical skills

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

The employee must be able to:

  • Log into and navigate Globalink to access PeopleSoft for paycheck/benefits enrollment information
  • Log into and navigate Owens Corning University (OCU) and accomplish required online training routinely

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Have passed lift truck training program and have a forklift operators license

PRODUCTION ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
  • Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
  • Operate/sit/drive for up to 12 hours continuously.
  • Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours-down day, start up, and shut down.
  • Routinely ascend and descend stairs and forklift to enter work areas
  • Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task
  • Push/drive floor sweeping and cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to rotate , work shift work, or overtime as necessary
  • Ability to help with all line breaks and lace-ups
