Additional unit information:
-Total # of beds in the unit: 16.
-Nurse to patient ratios 1:1 or 1:2 for all shifts.
-No Ancillary Staff.
-Unit patient population: Mixed-No Open heart s and no organ transplants.
-Scrubs can be any color, RN provides their own scrubs.
-Float to Peds/NICU. For Peds RN must have 2 years exp., NICU must have 2 yrs in level III and PICU must have 1 year of exp
-Regional PICU for Southern California Kaiser Permanente- oncology, neurosurgery, urology, general surgery, orthopedics, Genetics/endocrine and respiratory, trauma, infectious diseases. Chest tubes. Vents. Lots of drips and IV.
Telemetry experience

The pediatric intensive care nurse (PICU RN) provides cares for children and adolescents, usually up to the age of 18, with life-threatening or high-acuity conditions that require constant monitoring. Working in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), a high-tech children's services area for critically ill, medically complex, and/or post-surgical patients, the pediatric intensive care RN collaborates with families, physicians, and other healthcare officials to determine the best course of patient care and recovery.

Required Qualifications
1. PALS, BLS
2. When PICU census is low, you will float to PEDS or NICU. (floating is not very frequent in the winter but still need the skills to be able to float if census drops)
