Pediatric Progressive Care / Stepdown Nurse - (Peds PCU RN - Pedi PCU RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 D Pay Rate: $20.00 - 23.00

32 beds in the unit.
A lot of respiratory, endocrine, and infectious disease, patients reliant on technology, and some overflow from other units. Vent experience is highly preferred, some exp w/ BiPap and trachs a plus. Should be comfortable with diabetics and insulin / drips. Very fast paced, previous pediatric hospital experience a best fit. Someone with community hospital experience is not going to work. RN's float to MS units but not to ICU's. Ratio is 1-2 for vents, 1-3 bipaps, 1-2 for kids with drips. Typical ratio is 1-4


The pediatric progressive care nurse (peds PCU RN) is responsible for the care of pediatric patients (generally aged from 30 days to 18 years) who are not critically ill enough for admittance to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), but whose conditions still require continuous observation and monitoring. Also called the pediatric stepdown nurse, the pedi PCU RN takes the lead in administering care, giving particular emphasis to cardiovascular, endocrine, neurological, renal, and surgical disorders. Pediatric PCU nurses also educate patients' families on how to provide home care post-discharge.

Required Qualifications
2 Travelers will be working in Pediatric Acute Medicine w/ a lot of respiratory patients, so solid experience with vents and trachs is requested.
2 yrs solid Peds exp required.
