Job Title: Domain Business Analyst - Consumer Facing Systems - Requirements 

Location: Franklin, TN

Duration: 6+ Months (W2)



Job description: 

• The Information Systems (IS) Business Analyst is responsible developing a sound knowledge for researching, planning, coordinating and recommending business, cost, strategy, software and system choices to meet an organization's business requirements. The IS Business Analyst understands problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. 

• The IS Business Analyst is an internal consultancy role responsible for investigating processes, technology, cost, and strategy while identifying options for improving and bridging the needs of the business with the use of Information Systems and Technology. An IS Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing and documenting the Information Systems needs of clients to help identify problems and propose solutions. The IS Business Analyst role is to liaise with the internal business departments and the providers of services to the enterprise. The IS Business Analyst will manage incidents as they occur by working with multiple third party vendors to ensure maintenance and support is carried out effectively among all parties. The IS Business Analyst is to understand, interpret and suggest resolution to technical systematic issues and communicates these issues effectively to management and peers. The scope of analysis is limited to all business functions within a specific business domain (i.e. customer domain). As necessary, performs any other relevant duties to aid in the success of the organization. 

• The IS Analyst must possess the skills to read, understand, interpret, and communicate technical systematic issues effectively to management and peers. The IS Analyst plays a vital role in the systems and business development process.


 


Qualified analyst must acquire all of the four skills listed below: 

o Analytical, technical, managerial, and interpersonal. 

• Analytical skills enable IS Analysts to understand the organization and its functions, which helps him/her to identify opportunities and to analyze and solve problems. 

• Familiarity with various programming languages, operating systems, and computer hardware platforms. 

• Management skills help IS Analysts manage projects, resources, risk, and change. 

• Interpersonal skills help IS Analysts work with end users as well as with other IS Analysts, programmers, and other systems professionals. 

• Act as a liaison between vendors and the organization they represent. They may be responsible for developing cost analyses, design considerations, and implementation time-lines. They may also be responsible for feasibility studies of a computer system before making recommendations to senior management. 

• Possess excellent problem solving skills. The IS Analyst must have technical skills and the ability to understand and interpret technical systematic issues and communicate issues effectively to management and peers. 

• Must be detail oriented. 

• Must be flexible and possess the ability to adapt to changing priorities. On-Call duties may include carrying a cell phone / pager for immediate notifications. 

• Ability to work in a matrix organization. 

• Ability to establish deliverables and detail customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders and service providers in order to establish the deliverables for the service providers, using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g., planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups). 

• Ability to implement approved actions and workarounds with vendors minimizing risk. 

• Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to team performance. 

• Ability to write clearly and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. 

• Supports team building by building mutual trust and encourages respect and cooperation among team members. 

• Demonstrates high ethics and values by inspiring loyalty and trust, handles oneself ethically following core values and beliefs. 

• Recognizes contributions and praises people for a job well done. 


Working knowledge of the following skills: 


• Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis. 

• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. 

• Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional Requirements Documents, Business Requirements Document, Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs, develop, monitor and conduct application testing 

• Utilize your experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies required. 

• Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously 

• Work independently with users to define concepts under the direction of project managers 

• Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans

• Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts. 

• Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow. 

• Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language. 

• Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs. 

• Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams. 

• Ability to interpret business logic and identify points of failure based on source code and/or error logs as part of production support for business functions within scope of expertise. 

• This role will support the Consumer Facing Systems (CFS) applications and integration points, coordinating with external vendors as required. This role will work with the business community to scope, prioritize, and execute enhancements to the CFS application set.


 

Current hands-on working knowledge of the following technologies : 



• Familiarity with various programming languages, operating systems, and computer hardware platforms. 

• Client server & web technologies including but not limited to J2EE, JBoss, Oracle, DB2, SQL, PL/SQL 

• Familiarity with data warehousing/ETL (Informatica preferred)/Business Intelligence (Business Objects preferred) 

• Content Management Systems (Adobe AEM preferred) 

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access) and Windows operating system. 

• Project Management methods and tools (MS Project & Clarity preferred) 

• 5-8 Years overall IS/IT experience with at least: 

• 3 years application development experience 

• 3 years working with third party vendors/integrators 

• Prior experience working with off-shore personnel is a plus 

• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture is a plus 

• Experience with CRM, consumer facing web & mobile applications a plus
