The role of the Payroll Support Specialist is to serve as a knowledgeable and consultative support to franchise staff, including: franchisees, bookkeepers, and human resources specialists in the area of payroll.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists with payroll duties at franchise level
    • Processes payroll for franchises in various states
    • Creates and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
    • Performs wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for off cycle pay checks and terminations as well as checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards
  • Provides assistance and serves as a consultant to franchise staff for general payroll and payroll system related questions/concerns
  • Responsible for delivering training regarding payroll system functionality, payroll best practices, and compliance related items
  • Tracks types of questions and concerns in software for future training 
  • Analyzes trends in franchise system to trigger audits of payroll processes
  • May conduct onsite visits at franchise locations for review of payroll processes and training
  • Handles employee relations communication in regards to payroll concerns at franchise level 
  • Assists in software updates and featured roll outs
  • Creates quick reference resources for franchisees to be published on company intranet
  • Conducts webinars and info sessions for franchises
  • Provides assistance for development and maintenance of the automated payroll integration
    • Participates on cross-functional teams to meet project needs and works closely with IT project teams
    • Documents system bugs and issues includes documenting, communicating and suggesting enhancements
    • Works with other departments to develop/communicate practical application of reporting & data interpretation
    • Communicates regularly with franchise users to troubleshoot problems, solicit feedback, and gather best practices
    • Produces periodic project updates and may develop communication pieces for franchise system
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of payroll experience is required
  • Accounting, project management, training or support experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll laws and regulations
  • Great listening and organizational skills
  • Adept in problem analysis and solving
  • Possess attention to detail, initiative and sound judgment
  • Ability to be resilient and adapt
  • Ability to work independently with multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Team oriented and customer service focused; able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and franchise staff
  • Analytical thinker

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.  Travel may be required.
