In 2006, there were nearly 100, 000 therapist jobs that were mostly employed in hospitals and in health practitioner offices. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics there is a projected increase of 23 percent during the 2006 to 2016 decade. This rate will be much faster than the national average as a result of the increasing elderly population that will need more health care services. There were around 118,000 massage therapists jobs in 2006 with a large majority of that group being self employed. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics there is a projected increase of 20 percent for therapist jobs during the 2006 to 2016 decade. This rate of employment will be due to an increased amount of individuals seeking different means of healthcare to treat their ailments. This increase in employment will create a number of available job opportunities for qualified professionals at a variety of establishments including resorts, hospitals, and spas.
